Wildwood Lake in Harrisburg PA

August 15, 2019

As the sun sets on this season, many find themselves looking for one last trip to make the summer last. If you're looking for one last hurrah, visit Wildwood Lake Park in Harrisburg, PA for some end-of-summer fun!

Established in 1901, Wildwood Lake Park is no stranger to hardship. Throughout years of city planning, irregular funding and development projects, the park has become an exceptional space for exploring nature, education, and family-friendly fun. From bird blinds to watch the 150 different species that fly through Wildwood, to long hiking trails that will always provide a picture worthy moment, this is a nature lover's dream!

Here are some upcoming events hosted by Wildwood Lake Park:

  • Art in the Wild 2019: An ongoing event since April, artists have created various installations, using mostly natural materials, along Wildwood's wandering trails. Come check them out for free, from dawn until dusk!

  • Wildwood Photography Contest: Head on down to Wildwood Lake Park and snap some pictures by 11/30 to see if you can win the prize for best shot!

  • Run Wild for Wildwood 5K: From 9am-12pm, on 8/17, run or walk the 5K course in support of the 20th anniversary of the Benjamin Olewine III Nature Center! Stay after for tasty refreshments and the awards ceremony.

  • Kid's Discover – Insects: If your little one loves everything creepy and crawly, this is the event for you. On 8/31, join in for a nature walk and watch as they are transformed into a biologist whose mission is to survey the area for wildlife!

Only 30 minutes from Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast, Wildwood has something for everybody. Let us give you a good night's sleep and some hot breakfast before you go bird-watching, hiking, or just to commune with nature. As always, remember to BookDirect!
