Kitty and Robin Stauffer
We are proud to say we’re Pennsylvania natives. I grew up in the village of Hometown –in Schuylkill County and Robin is from Sellersville in Bucks County. We met in 1980 while attending Penn State University - Hazleton campus and have been married for almost 30 years. We have two children, Ryan & Elise, a son-in-law, Wes, and a grandson, Garrett.
We have “come back home” to Pennsylvania after Robin retired from a nearly 26-year career in the Army. He was a logistics officer and strategic planner in the Army and he served in light infantry, airborne and ranger units and on staffs at various levels. Army life requires a lot of moving and our family traveled across the country several times, including two tours to Hawaii! It was a great life and we feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve our country and raise our children in so many different areas.
Army life also lends itself to many social functions, entertaining, and family support groups, and we enjoyed meeting new service members and their families. When we vacationed, we often stayed at Bed and Breakfasts because we enjoyed meeting new people and found we had a lot in common with the Innkeepers. Over the years, we talked about owning and operating a B&B ‘some day’…. And a few years ago, after some soul searching we decided it was the right step for us. We are so happy to have found Pheasant Field in Carlisle, PA.
We also have an official ‘greeter’. “Rehab” is our 7-year-old lab-mix. We rescued her in 2006 after we learned that three previous owners returned her to the SPCA – so we brought her home where she rehabbed us and we rehabbed her, hence her name. She has been a wonderful addition. She’s well behaved, loves attention and is a “lover and leaner.”
We feel deeply blessed to have this opportunity to continue to serve by offering a relaxing and comfortable stay for our guests at Pheasant Field B&B. We are honored to be the next in line of caretakers of this house and stewards of the land.
